About the 2007-2008 PAS Season

The Greater Hazard Area Performing Arts Series invite you to Wine 'n' Dine with us this season, as we travel through the decades experiencing the music that set them apart. We begin the season with a musical journey through the '70s featuring the songs of Billy Joel and Elton John in “The Piano Men” starring Jim Witter. The Koresh Dance Company will take us back with their choreography to the music from the '40s and '50s. And we'll be dancing the night away to the Big Band sounds with Nnenna Freelon and the World Famous Count Basie Orchestra. This season we are offering more - more events and, food and drinks will be included with three of the events, as well as two coffee house performances that will have refreshments available for audience members.

In the spring, we are particularly proud to be a part of the week of activities being planned across the state to kick off the national Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration. The Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra is teaming up with renowned Lincoln actor and historian, Jim Getty, to perform a special concert presentation, “Lincoln's Legacy: A Musical Tribute.” Once again, we are proud to offer a season of excellent artistic quality that includes some tremendous arts education opportunities and resources for area students and schools. We would like to thank all of our volunteers, donors, subscribers, patrons and especially our Series Grand Benefactors that underwrite the season for making these opportunities possible.

We invite you to become a volunteer, as well as a donor and season subscriber. Whatever your interests or talents, there's a place for you as a volunteer. Contact the performing arts office for more information. Know that when you support the arts series by becoming a donor, season subscriber or patron at individual events, you are part of a much bigger picture that assists with the development of the arts and enriches the cultural climate of the community.
